We Are Not Robots

  Download Presentation

Ryan Hogarth
Social Business Strategist, and Author

View Ryan Hogarth's Video >>

The 20th century has been defined by digital transformation. This lively presentation explores the impact of this transformation on our workforce, our customer experience and expectations, as well as our business models. The more our technology advances, the more we must understand the people using this technology. Before we change what we do, we have to change how we think. “We Are Not Robots” will explore how to adapt and prepare our thinking for modern business.

Decoding the digital era long before it was fashionable to do so, Ryan Hogarth is always a step ahead of trends. His acute grasp of the business-customer relationship enables him to decipher what customers want and how they like to be treated. In a world in which 50 billion devices will be connected by 2020, it is incumbent upon companies to transform or become irrelevant.

Ryan’s expertise is in technology and digital transformation, leadership and influence, motivation and innovation. He has a deep understanding of the business-customer relationship and how this has changed, particularly how social, mobile and the internet are shaping this relationship which has brought tumultuous change to business. He brings an understanding of the mindset required to navigate this change.

Ryan’s presentation will help to decode the impact of digital on business and all its relationships. His fresh content, different views and enthusiasm about his topic encompass a view of the changing face of global business to a “frictionless economy” that plays a major part in establishing an innovative and truly modern business.

Hogarth is an author, writer and host of his own radio show with a podcast segment.

2017 Closing Keynote Address

Forging Ahead In A Tough Economic Environment

Siphiwe Moyo
Leadership, Motivation, Personal and Business Growth, Author

There is no doubt that we have some serious challenges as a continent right now. There’s slower economic growth in the majority of countries in the region after about a decade of high GDP growth. According to the recently released Africa Competitiveness Report 2017, the continent still face major challenges. These include large infrastructure deficits, significant skill mismatches, slow adoption of new technologies, and weak institutions. These factors, in addition to weak financial sector development and low levels of regional trade and integration, emerge as the main bottlenecks that prevent African economies from offering an environment that facilitates better employment and entrepreneurship opportunities to its citizens as well.

In these tough times, you have two choices: You can either look outside the window and be overwhelmed by what is happening in the external environment. Or you can focus within as an IT governance professional and ask yourself what it is you can do to increase your own personal performance, even in a tough economic environment. You can increase your effectiveness by simply asking the question, “Right now, at this moment, given this situation; am I focusing on something I can control, or am I obsessing over something I cannot control?”

In this closing keynote, Siphiwe Moyo, a specialist in improving performance cultures, talks about things you can do to improve your own personal performance in a tough economic environment.

Siphiwe Moyo understands how to develop human capital and manage change from a strategic perspective. His keynote will focus on career progression, employee morale and motivation, and strategies aimed at nipping the entitlement culture in the bud.

His specialty is organisational behaviour – how human beings function within organisational settings. Having worked his way up in the business world through sheer grit and determination, one of his key messages is that people should be prepared to work hard for success.

Siphiwe holds Masters in Business Administration, B Comm. (Honours) in People Development, Bachelor’s Degree (cum laude) in Human Resources and is a Certified International Retail Banker (CIRB). He is the Chairman of the Board at the South African Board for People Practices (SABPP).

Moyo is an author of the books titled:

  • Bulls & Bears: Life Lessons from The Financial Markets
  • #StagnationMustFall: 100 Practical Lessons That Will Activate Your Career Progression
