Sarah has more than 25 years in IT Security Consulting experience in the area of management and leadership. She has worked on a broad range of complex projects in multiple industry segments including public and private sectors that included KPMG, LLP; FINRA; Nasdaq Stock Market; Choice Hotels International; and the Office of the Auditor General for the State of Michigan. Sarah also is an entrepreneur and had her own IT consulting business specializing in IT and business auditing and consulting from 2002 – 2010. She is the current Past President of the Greater Washington DC Chapter (GWDC) of ISACA and the longest serving President (3 consecutive years) of GWDC. Sarah is a current member of the Women's Leadership Council for SheLeadsTech. She has been guest speaker at a number of events hosted by various ISACA Chapters in South Asia and Europe.
She has participated in numerous Compass Pro bono consulting. Also, in 1994 she had volunteered as an intern for Grameen Bank, a leading micro-credit lending bank that disburses collateral free small loans to economically impoverished entrepreneurs, primarily women. The founder of Grameen Bank is Dr. Mohammad Yunus. Both Dr. Mohammad Yunus and Grameen Bank received Nobel Peace prize in 2006.

Sarah is IT audit director at AstraZeneca. She has more than 20 years of IT assurance and advisory experience spanning financial services, utilities, professional services, central government and pharmaceuticals. Her expertise is in building strong relationships with key stakeholders both from a business development context and when building credibility when engaging with senior stakeholders in a business context. Sarah also has the knowledge and experience to challenge businesses on complex technical issues as well as explain technology in simple terms that can be understood by all. She is a member of the ISACA Northern England Chapter board and and she leads the ISACA UK and Ireland chapter-wide initiative for SheLeadsTech. She also serves on the ISACA global Women’s Leadership Advisory Council.
Shan Senanayake, CISA, CRISC, CISSPInformation Security ManagerAscendant Group
Shan promotes smart community involvement in cybersecurity and encourages everyone within earshot to get trained in cybersecurity the same way you encourage people to take self-defense classes.
Originally from Singapore, she has worked as an IT consultant and trainer in Singapore, Silicon Valley, New York, New Jersey and now Bermuda. Shan is the Information Security Manager for Ascendant Group, leading the group’s critical infrastructure security, governance and compliance function for the primary utility company in Bermuda.
